What is happening at Grumpy Betty?
Grumpy Betty has been a retail space in Caulfield selling Vintage homewares, home decor, and furniture. Established by Kara and Elizabeth, in January 2020, we spent the first two years dealing with the craziness of a global pandemic. When our lease came up in February 2023, we decided not to resign but to explore other opportunities. Whilst we are doing this, the stock we had at Grumpy Betty is to purchase on-line.
Items can be collected in Caulfield, or delivered, by arrangement and for which there will be a cost.
We are still passionate about our original philosophy that stemmed from the planet’s need for a focus on reuse, recycle, repurpose and respect.
Grumpy Betty has an in-house interior designer – Elizabeth Sparrow. Elizabeth is available for a consultation at your home or in our shop.
Introducing Jolie™ Home Paints
Elizabeth and Kara are excited to annouce that after an extensive amount of product research we have decided to become stockists for the Jolie™ Home range of matt finish (commonly known as chalk finish) paints. There are many fabulous looks that you can achieve with these products to give your favourite item a new look. Join Elizabeth, our in-house Interior Designer and Jolie™ trained instructor for a three hour introductory course to learn how to achieve a professional look in your own home.

About Elizabeth & Kara
Elizabeth and Kara have both lived in the Caulfield community for more than 10 years. Our kids all started their education at Caulfield Primary School. We love this part of the world and aim for our store to become a vital hub in the Caulfield South village. We are currently determining which not-for-profit local and global groups we will work with, stay tuned to find out more! Causes close to our heart include the environment, children and education and mental health.
The Grumpy Betty values are – good design and sustainability. We are equally serious about both these values. All our items are either second-hand or locally made, thus minimising their environmental impact. Our power is supplied by Momentum Energy – as thus is supports the renewable energy industry in Australia. All our paper products are either made from recycled paper or when that is not possible, paper made by FSC (Forrest Stewardship Council) certified manufactures. All our cleaning products are from Zero.Co. containers made from recycled ocean plastics, and environmentally safe chemicals. We do not use single-use plastics in store.
