Furniture Makeover Workshop -Six Week Course

We are excited to announce that we have rolled our three popular workshops rolled into one six-week course. There will be one, 1.5-hour session per week, totalling 9 hours.

Dates: Initially two courses will run:

• Wednesday, 6:30pm -8pm. Starting 10^th August 2022, and every week, last class on 14^thSeptember,2022. 
• Friday 10:00amm -11:30am. Starting 12^thAugust 2022 and every week, last class on 16^thSeptember,2022.

Start out a Furniture Makeover beginner and take home a completed project.

The Grumpy Betty Workshops are conducted by one of our in-house Jolie Home Paint trained Instructors, in the Grumpy Betty Studio at the rear of our shop at 773 Glen Huntly Road, Caulfield.

You will learn how to use Chalk – finish Paint to upcycle your furniture and homewares with a fabulous new look.

We use Jolie Home Paint which is a water-based, non-toxic, and quick-drying paint for furniture, cabinets, floors, walls, and home accessories. It adheres to almost any surface and makes it easy to achieve beautiful finishes such as smooth, modern, distressed, textured and many more. Jolie Home chalk-finish paint delivers quality and long-lasting results on surfaces throughout the home.

In the Furniture Makeover Workshop – Six Week Course you will learn how to achieve the 5 most popular Jolie Home Paint finishes, how to add bling – the embellishments and spend 2 sessions working on your own project.

Weeks 1 and 2: You will learn the five standard finishes. You will work on pieces of MDF Skirting Board supplied by Grumpy Betty, that you will take home.

The 5 Standard finishes:

1. Basic Finish
2. Smooth Finish
3. Textured Finish
4. Distressed Finish
5. Dry Brush Finish

Weeks 3 and 4: You will learn how to achieve the 5 most popular advanced or embellished finishes using the Jolie Home Paint range.

You will learn on pieces of MDF Skirting, supplied by Grumpy Betty, that you will take home.

The 5 Advanced finishes:

1. Coloured Finishing Wax
2. The Natural Wood Look
3. Metal Leaf and Gold Size
4. Gilding Wax
5. The ultimate look.

You will also take home a copy of the Jolie Home Painting Embellishment Guide.

For weeks 1-4 Grumpy Betty supplies all that you need for the workshop, tools and paint products and refreshments. Just bring yourself and your sense of fun!

Weeks 5 and 6: You will use the Jolie Home Paints and other products to update a piece of furniture or home décor of your own.

The piece you work on will need to be of small to medium size –you need to carry it into our studio. Ideal pieces include bedside tables, small side table or coffee table, or small bookshelves.

Grumpy Betty will provide:

• The expertise of our in- house Jolie trained instructor, to help determine which finish you’d like to achieve on your piece.
• Pieces of MDF and Jolie Home products for you to use to practice your finish, before starting on your project.
• Paint brushes and tools.

You will need to purchase all Jolie Home Paints and other consumable products required to complete your project. As a student in our six-week course, you will receive a 10% discount for all Jolie Home Products purchased during the course.

You will also take home:

What if I can’t make a session?

In the current climate it is difficult for everyone to turn up every week. We will be running each session twice a week, Wednesday evenings and Friday mornings. By prior arrangement, you can attend the other session if you cannot make your usual session. If you are unable to do a session in the same week, we will work with you to come up with a solution, that works to meet both your needs and that of Grumpy Betty and our instructors, to give you the information and skills from the session. There are no refunds for sessions not attended.
